INDIANA MEMORIAL UNION (BA-IMAU-IUBLA)
The Office of Student Life is focused on building a strong
foundation to ensure every student's Indiana University experience
is positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. The Office of Student
Life staff and multiple departments aim to help students navigate
their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in
school and after graduation. The Student Involvement and Leadership
Center fosters growth and learning among all students by designing
and supporting inclusive experiences and engaging opportunities
that connect those we serve with the campus, the community, each
other, and themselves. This position has the primary responsibility
for oversight and support of the IU Bloomington student
organization community, consisting of more than 800 organizations.
Responsible for designing and administering student life
initiatives to increase student engagement and involvement, foster
development, build community, and improve the student campus
experience.
Provides guidance to student organizations and student leaders
regarding operations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment,
registration, policies, and compliance.
Coordinates Involvement Ambassador program, including hiring,
training, and supervision of student employees.
Contributes to formation, interpretation, and implementation of
student organization policies.
Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as
well as student organization leaders, on shared student life goals,
often coordinating funding to sponsor student life initiatives.
Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student life initiatives
against projected outcomes; Plans and coordinates communications
for student life initiatives to ensure student participation and
inclusion.

Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling,
social work, education, business, or related field
Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related
field
WORK EXPERIENCE
2 years in student services, higher education, or related field
Previous staff supervision experience
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential information
Ability to build strong partnerships with students and other
university departments
Knowledge of current trends in student engagement, the legal
landscape related to student organizations, current issues related
to IU campus policy and procedure, and general finance
Ability to relate well with a diverse population of college
students ranging from first-year students to graduate and
non-traditional-aged students, including international students,
and to create environments that promote and embrace diversity,
equity, and inclusion
Ability to establish strategic goals, develop program curricula,
create and assess learning outcomes, evaluate programs, and track
data
Demonstrates competency with Microsoft 365 products including
Outlook, Teams, and Excel
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to
operate a computer and other standard office productivity
equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods
of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The
person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions
with or without an accommodation.
The position requires some evening and weekend work and may involve
travel.
