Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Oncology Discipline: RN Start Date: 07/15/2025 Duration: 8 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – 4 West Oncology Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care through specialized knowledge, clinical judgment, and nursing skills. The RN applies principles from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Care is provided within the framework of the model of care at TCH, which fosters a collaborative partnership between patients, families, and the healthcare team. The RN ensures care is culturally sensitive and age-appropriate, while adhering to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics and the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. Unit Description: 4 West Oncology Unit: The 4 West Oncology Unit is a 27-bed inpatient unit specializing in oncology and medical-surgical care. Patients may be admitted at any stage of their cancer journey, including diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, management of complications, and palliative care. The unit also admits patients with medical-surgical conditions and hematological disorders such as sickle cell crisis. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team, including registered nurses, patient care assistants, physicians, nurse practitioners, case managers, health unit coordinators, oncology pharmacists, educators, chaplains, nutritionists, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and respiratory therapists. The team is committed to providing exceptional care and fostering ongoing professional development for all staff members. Required Skills & Experience: The RN must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to deliver culturally sensitive, age-appropriate care and education to patients. Effective communication with peers, proper utilization of communication channels, and strict adherence to confidentiality are essential. The RN is expected to maintain professional competence through ongoing education and development. The RN must be adaptable to change and demonstrate the ability to work in a culturally diverse environment. Required Education: Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution. Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Required Certifications & Licensure: Current Ohio RN License or Compact State RN License. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
