Job Description Job Description Job Title: Propagation Specialist Reports to: Propagation Manager Job Code: Band: Position Department: Propagation Department FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Description: Propagation Specialist supports the entire Cultivation Department by handling day-to-day plant maintenance and grow-facility cleaning specifically within the mother, clone and veg rooms. As such, it is critical that Propagation Specialists are properly trained on company protocols and the importance of state compliance. The Propagation Specialist operates with direct supervision from the Propagation Manager. Follows established policies and procedures and contributes to the development of new concepts, policies, and procedures as necessary to perform job duties and tasks. Propagation Specialists may be cross trained to care for cannabis plants in other stages of life such as, flower and post-harvest activities. Duties & Responsibilities: The Propagation Specialist serves to assist the cultivation team in the organization and oversight of our nursery environments. To ensure the maintenance of genetic mother stock and crop schedules are maintained. This position is active year-round with indoor cultivation Manages a nursery that supports 25,000 square feet of canopy space. Manages genetic mother stock of 100 unique cultivars. Responsible for the propagation and health of all clones and seedings (propagation, transplanting, topping/pruning, fertigation, IPM). Work with managers to monitor and document annual crop timeline and rotation to ensure timely planting and harvests. Responsible for plant health from propagation through vegetative growth cycle. Responsible for supply and equipment ordering for the nursery. Document and evaluate cloning and seed propagation success rate data. Assist in determining cultivars to run based on yield and plant performance data. Responsible for communicating all progress to management on a weekly basis. Maintains all compliance systems. Required Skills & Qualifications: Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment Ability to make decisions as necessary with oversight when needed Proficiency in windows-based and other software and internet navigation Fun attitude, strong work ethic, strong attention to detail, must have a team player mentality, are able to accommodate scheduling expectations including weekends, evenings and holiday shifts and store location movement Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and rotating shifts, including weekends Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds Ability to sit, squat, bend, and kneel for extended periods and repetitively throughout a workday Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours All applicants must be at least 21 years of age All applicants must pass a FBI fingerprint search and a BCI federal background search Environmental Demands: Exposure to pollen, allergens, and non-carcinogenic pesticides, dust, odors, extreme temperatures, artificial light, sun exposure, loud machines, vibrations, and water. Education & Training Requirements: Specialists don’t necessarily need a degree. At a minimum, they should have a high school diploma or GED. A certification or associate or bachelor’s degree in a plant specific, farming, or other science related field is preferred but not required. This is a starting position.
