Job Description Job Description Become a member of our Surgery
Center team as a PCA in our Operating Rooms! As a PCA, you will
assist with sterile set up, assisting and moving of patients as
well as cleaning after each procedure preparing for the next case.
Position Purpose: Assists surgical team during operative
procedures. Arranges and inventories sterile set-up for operation,
and passes items as needed to the operating team. Assists in
preparing and moving patients, and in cleaning the operating
theater. The OR Tech is responsible for the provision of surgical
care to meet identified patient outcomes and to achieve the goals
of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse. Position
reports to: Clinical Nurse Manager Full Time Role 4 days - 10 hours
per day Located at our Summit location in Sharonville Interpersonal
Relationships As a representative of FACILITY, all comments,
attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct affect on the
facility's image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction
with patients, family members, physicians, referral sources,
affiliating schools, visitors, etc. must be in a manner that is
friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and
professional. Experience / Position Requirements Licenses or
Certifications: Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support
Course preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in PCA preferred, not
required. Will provide on the job training. Skills and Abilities:

co-workers, supervisor and other employees. Displays positive

stress. Requires respect for the confidential nature of work
environment. Essential Position Responsibilities: Delivers safe
patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and according to
surgery center policy and procedure. Demonstrates ability to
respond to patient care and facility needs in an emergency
situation. Initiates and implements basic cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR). Demonstrates knowledge of specific
responsibilities in all emergency situations. Demonstrates ability
to meet patients and family's learning needs as identified in the
plan of care. Orients the patient and family to the patient care
environment, surgery center and unit routines. Assists the
Registered Nurse with patient discharges. Demonstrates continued
competence in treating, and caring for individuals based upon
age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective. Provides
appropriate interventions related to safety issues. Demonstrates
appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills
identified for position. Follows established policies and
procedures with regard to attendance. Maintains attendance
according to guidelines and policy established by facility. Adheres
to tardiness policy. Provides notification for unscheduled absences
or tardiness in accordance with established departmental procedures
as noted by supervisor. Requests scheduled time off according to
procedure as noted by supervisor. Utilizes time effectively.
Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate
and up to date information in accordance with established
standards. Adheres to established facility safety requirements and
procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Demonstrates the
competent usage of proper body mechanics in all activities.
Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor.
Completes all employee/patient incident documentation in a thorough
and timely manner, as required by facility policy. Demonstrates
complete understanding of established emergency procedures for
facility. Practices infection control and standard precautions as
instructed or trained. Regularly maintains work area and equipment
in a pristine manner. Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment
and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting
an unsafe situation. Completes appropriate financial management
responsibilities. Provides input re: equipment needs/supply needs.
Completes patient charges in accordance with facility procedure.
Demonstrates sound cost containment techniques. Performs all other
duties as assigned by supervisor. Strives to be professional,
courteous, helpful and cooperative. Attends and participates in all
applicable training and development workshops scheduled by the
facility. Maintains dress and appearance according to standards as
observed by management. Demonstrates the safe operation of
equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and
correcting an unsafe situation. Service Satisfaction: Communicates
patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of
care. Documents all patient information according to established
standards of care, policies and procedures. Provides a shift report
to oncoming personnel which is accurate, concise and pertinent to
the patient's condition and response to care. Provides pertinent
patient information to the physician, family and other members of
the multidisciplinary team. Discusses patient information with
other health team members in an appropriate environment. Documents
patient's/significant other's response to teaching interventions.
Interacts with all patients, families, visitors and fellow
employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure a positive and
professional facility environment. Displays a caring and responsive
attitude and conducts all activities respecting patient, family and
employee rights and expectations. Maintains confidentiality of all
facility and patient information as required by facility policy.
Fosters a positive and professional facility environment by
interacting with all persons in a considerate, helpful and
courteous manner and by participating as a team member.
Diffuses/resolves conflict by appropriately communicating with
those involved. Accepts constructive criticism and gives
suggestions in a professional manner. Considers age specific needs
in communication. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work is indoors in
climate-controlled environment. Patient care environment with
potential exposure to unpleasant odors, to blood and body fluids
that may carry infection, to infectious disease, and to chemical
and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements for the position
include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see
up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk,
reach, handle, and/or feel objects. Must be able to climb, pull,
push and kneel. Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100
lbs. Ability to push a stretcher/wheelchair with a patient. Ability
to wear lead apron. DEGREE OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO POSITION:
Minimal. Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
