The Lilly Grant Office serves as the global Center of Excellence for the administration and management of all aspects of Lilly’s support of Independent Medical Education (IME) plus other related grant types. The Associate Director, referred to as the Medical Education Grant Officer (MEGO), is responsible for the development and execution of the therapeutic area (TA) IME strategy. The MEGO will lead therapeutically aligned grant review committees in the evaluation of grant requests to ensure alignment with the overall IME strategy for each TA in compliance with internal and external policies and procedures. The MEGO role strategically collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify evidence-based healthcare gaps that lead to the creation of the IME strategy and align with Lilly business interests. This IME strategy sets the foundation for supporting quality programs that address these healthcare gaps, either by improving knowledge, competence, and performance for HCPs, or, via quality improvement initiatives, implementing changes to processes at the healthcare system level. Responsibilities: Business planning and creation of therapeutic area grant strategy Identify evidence-based healthcare gaps and create a strategy to leverage IME to address those gaps Collaborate with Medical Affairs, GMAO, Commercial, Market Research, Health Outcomes, Advocacy, and others to lead the development and implementation of prioritized TA IME grant strategy and budget Manage relationship with Alliance partner grant office(s) ensuring efficient and effective implementation of grant strategy (if applicable) Ensure appropriate communication, prioritization, and alignment with Business Unit (BU) leadership Business Management Execute against TA IME grant strategy Manage complex multi-million-dollar TA grant budgets to target Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal business partners, external education providers, and industry experts to ensure the delivery of compliant, innovative, and effective IME programs Utilize all Lilly Grant Office systems, platforms, procedures, and tools to ensure compliance and maintain deep understanding of system functionality Identify and propose process improvement ideas that can have an impact on both external customers and internal processes and efficiencies Review all grant requests received and effectively prepare for and lead TA grant committee meetings to facilitate appropriate decision-making ­Facilitate the development of strategy that leads to Request for Proposal (RFP) development, legal review, response submission, and committee review Gain a progressive understanding of the disease state, treatment options, and medical education needs and gaps within assigned TA Monitor programs (both live and virtual) and engage other Medical Affairs representatives to participate in the monitoring of supported programs Evaluate and analyze outcomes data from educational providers to ensure the program(s) is being delivered as planned and ensure the expected outcomes are provided in a manner consistent with the Outcomes Guidance document Share outcomes to tell an effective impact and value story of IME and QI with multiple internal stakeholders LGO Projects, Industry Involvement and Share Key Learnings and Expertise with Others Lead development of tools and "best practices" for continual quality improvement and drive industry leadership where appropriate Advocate for the following: Adult Learning Principles, best practices in assessing Instructional Design, and identifying /assessing innovative educational programming Lead special projects both internally and across our industry; share best practices Manage high-level strategic relationships with identified external partners and stakeholders and demonstrate industry leadership by volunteering to serve on industry boards or committees and or speaking as faculty at industry conferences Compliance Serve as a company-wide expert consultant for internal and external grant guidelines/regulations Accountable to ensure business processes reflect adherence to all applicable laws and regulations impacting the medical education environment, including ACCME and other industry regulations. Drive internal changes when appropriate. Includes external involvement in Alliance for Continuing Education in Healthcare; CME Coalition; EU-CME; and other industry-level groups and initiatives NOTE: This role will support ImBU Basic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree 5 years in some form of medical education and/or patient education role Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The anticipated wage for this position is $122,250 - $179,300 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
