Complications Therapeutic Area (DOCTA) of Eli Lilly and Company,
focuses on the discovery of biologic, small molecule and genetic
therapeutics for the treatment of diabetes, obesity and associated
complications. We are seeking a highly motivated lab-based
scientist to join our Indianapolis Diabetes/Obesity research team
that is focused on developing innovative therapeutics to treat
cardiovascular and renal complications associated with obesity and
diabetes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cell
and molecular biology techniques, with a preferred focus on renal
cell systems and endpoints, coupled with extensive experience in in
vitro and in vivo pharmacology. Responsibilities: Conduct in vitro
and in vivo pharmacology studies to evaluate the efficacy and
safety of therapeutic candidates. Use cell and molecular biology
techniques, including cell culture, transfection, PCR, Western
blotting, and immunohistochemistry. Design and complete experiments
involving renal cell systems, including primary cell cultures and
cell lines, including utilization of CRISPR/Cas9 systems to modify
gene expression in cell lines. Implement experiments using
different classes of drug modalities including small molecules,
biologics and oligonucleotides, among others. Complete experiments
and analyze data from in vivo models of renal disease including but
not limited to endpoints such as glomerular filtration rate, gene
and protein expression from tissue, urine and plasma. Communicate
results clearly and effectively with team members and the
scientific community through reports, presentations or publications
and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance drug
discovery and development projects. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 4-5 years industry experience, or Master's
degree with 0-3 years industry experience in Pharmacology, Cell
Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field. Additional
Preferences: Experience in in vivo pharmacology, including model
development and characterization, proficiency in animal handling
techniques, different dosing techniques/routes (PO, IV, IP,
Subcutaneous), tissue extraction and preparation for downstream
analysis Proficiency in cell and molecular biology techniques,
including next generation western blot techniques, RT-qPCR,
lentiviral overexpression systems, CRISPR/Cas9 gRNA design and
experimentation, primary cell isolation and culture techniques,
Experience with renal cell systems and endpoints preferred but not
required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team
environment. Collaborate with colleagues on research projects and
deploy creative analytical and problem-solving skills when

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $63,000 -
$162,800 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a
company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual
performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit
